પ્રાઇવેટ એક્રિડીટેડ લેબોરેટરીને કોરોના વાઇરસ (કોવીડ-19) ટેસ્ટ માટે મંજૂરી અપાશે

કોરોના વાઇરસને ભારતમાં ફેલાતો રોકવા માટ કેન્દ્ર સરકાર રોજેરોજ શ્રેણીબદ્ધ પગલાંઓ ભરી રહી છે. હાલમાં કોરોના વાઇરસ માટેનો ટેસ્ટ કોવીડ-19 દેશમાં 52 લેબોરેટરીમાં કરવામાં આવી રહ્યો છે. આ તમામે તમામ લેબોરેટરી મોટા ભાગે સરકારી મેડીકલ કોલેજોમાં છે. પરંતુ, હવે કેન્દ્ર સરકારે કોવીડ-19 ટેસ્ટ પ્રાઇવેટ એક્રિડીટેડ લેબોરેટરીને કરવા માટે મંજૂરી આપવાની યોજના બનાવી છે અને ટૂંક સમયમાં આ અંગેની સત્તાવાર મંજૂરી આપવામાં આવશે.

ઇન્ડીયન કાઉન્સિલ ઓફ મેડીકલ રીસર્ચના ડો.બલરામ ભાર્ગવના જણાવ્યા અનુસાર થોડા દિવસોમાં ભારતમાં 52થી વધીને 125 જેટલા સ્થળોએ કોરોના વાઇરસ માટેનો કોવીડ-19 ટેસ્ટ થાય તેવી સગવડ ઉભી થઇ જશે.

તેમણે ઉમેર્યું કે ભારમાં અંદાજે 60 જેટલી પ્રાઇવેટ લેબોરેટરીઝ છે જે નેશનલ એક્રેડિટેશન બોર્ડ ફોર લેબોરેટરીઝ સાથે એફિલિએટેડ છે. આ લેબોરેટરીઝ કોવીડ-19 ટેસ્ટ કરવા માટે સક્ષમ છે અને તે બાબતનો ઉપયોગ કરવાનું કેન્દ્ર સરકારે વિચારી લીધું છે.

હાલમાં ભારતમાં દૈનિક 5000 સેમ્પલ્સ ટેસ્ટ કરવાની ક્ષમતા છે અને ભારત હાલ રોજ ફક્ત 50થી 60 સેમ્પલ પર પ્રોસેસિંગ કરી રહ્યું છે. આગામી દિવસમાં જો કોવીડ-19 પ્રોસેસિંગ વધે તો ક્ષમતા વધારવા માટે અત્યારથી જ એડવાન્સમાં પગલાં વિચારી લેવામાં આવ્યા છે.

In keeping with the demand for more testing, the Centre has decided to allow accredited private labs to test for Covid-19. Dr Balram Bhargava, director general of Indian Council of Medical Research – the country’s apex body for health research – confirmed this.

There are 50 to 60 private labs, accredited by the National Accreditation Board for Laboratories, that can do the test, Bhargava said.

At present, only government labs are permitted to do the test. Though their capacity is around 5,000 samples per day, only 60 to 70 samples are being processed daily. This is because current guidelines allow testing only for symptomatic individuals with travel history to affected countries or those in direct contact with an infected individual.

ICMR has a network of 106 Virus Research and Diagnostic Laboratories (VRDLs) across the country. These labs get samples of influenza like illnesses (ILIs) and severe acute respiratory infection (SARI) regularly.

Scientists said 13 of these labs have been testing 20 random samples for Covid-19 periodically since February to see if the novel coronavirus had spread to the community. The experts said all samples have so far tested negative.
