ભારતમાં ગર્ભપાતના કાયદામાં આવશ્યક સુધારાઓ મંજૂર : ચોક્કસ કેસોમાં ૨૪ સપ્તાહ સુધી ગર્ભપાતને મંજૂરી

ભારતના આરોગ્ય મંત્રી હર્ષવર્ધને આપેલી જાણકારી મુજબ મેડિકલ ટર્મિનેશન ઓફ પ્રેગ્નન્સી (ગર્ભપાત)માં એમેન્ડમેન્ટ (સુધારા) બિલ ૨૦૨૦ને રાજ્યસભાએ મંજૂરી આપી છે. મહિલાઓના વ્યાપક હિત, ગૌરવ અને સલામતિના કારણોસર ગર્ભપાતના કાયદામાં કેટલાક આવશ્યક સુધારાઓ કરવામાં આવ્યા છે. જેની જાણકારી નીચે મુજબ છે.

ભારતના આરોગ્ય મંત્રીએ મેડીકલ ટર્મિનેશન ઓફ પ્રેગ્નન્સી કાયદામાં સુધારાના બિલને મળેલી મંજૂરી ઐતિહાસિક અને મહિલાઓના વિશાળ હિતમાં ગણાવી હતી.

The bill also ensures that women get access to safe and legal abortion services on therapeutic, eugenic, humanitarian grounds.

The bill was drafted after extensive expert consultation involving all stakeholders such as gynaecologist association, related NGOs, Indian Medical Association etc. Group of ministers chaired by Nitin Gadkari, and ethics committee was also consulted, and only after elaborate discussion the bill took shape. The bill was also discussed in great detail in Lok Sabha before being passed unanimously,” said Harsh Vardhan in Rajya Sabha. Lok Sabha passed the bill last year.
