ICMR Indina Council of Medical Research ઇન્ડિયન કાઉન્સિલ ઓફ મેડિકલ રિસર્ચે તા.૨૧ એપ્રિલ ૨૦૨૧ના રોજ ટ્વીટ કરીને એવું જાહેર કર્યું છે કે ભારતમાંં ઉપલબ્ધ કોરોના રસી પૈકી કોવાક્સીન નામની રસી તમામ પ્રકારના કોરોના વાઇરસ અને તેના મલ્ટીપલ વેરીએન્ટસ અને મ્યુટન્ટ સ્ટ્રેઇન સામે રક્ષણ આપે છે.
